Environment

Environmental responsibility  is part of aicep Global Parques operating philosophy:

  • a defined masterplan for all our managed plants;
  • respect for the environment through environmental impact reports;
  • respect, promotion and conservation of protected forest zones;
  • improvement of public communal areas under its management and infrastructure system that is created to fulfill all legal environmental provisions;
  • incentives to clients regarding the use of environmentally-friendly technologies;
  • development and operation of PMA ZILS – Environmental Monitoring Plan of the Industrial and Logistic Zone of Sines, allowing for an assessment of the environmental impact, in relation to the quality of the air and underground and surface waters;
  • collaboration with the Integrated Health and Environmental Management (GISA) projects at the Alentejo Coast and ComSines (corporate social responsibility panel of the Sines Community);
  • support as the main sponsor of the annual activity of the "Litoral Aventura" (Adventure Coast) regarding the Beach Cleanup activities at Costa de Santo André Beaches and Santo André Lagoon;
  • support to several environmental protection projects.
Human Capital and Entrepreneurship

Human capital training is a critical factor for attracting companies.Investment decisions shall be necessarily and carefully analysed in regard to the competitive advantages of each region, taking advantage of the specialisation of production resources that they already have and stimulating the creation of companies whose core activity includes the utilisation of specific skills.

This awareness has guided the search for partnerships between aicep Global Parques and the organisations that, regarding the scope of action of the plants, have a greater vocation for the training and qualification of human assets:

  • annual award of an incentive Scholarship to students of ETLA – Escola Tecnológica do Litoral Alentejano (Technological School of the Coast of Alentejo) and IPS – Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal);
  • support to the annual Ideas and Creativity Contest, promoted by Sines Tecnopolo;
  • several partnerships, for example, ATEC – Associação de Formação para a Indústria (Industrial Work Training Association) and the Erasmus Consortium;
  • visitation program to ZILS – Industrial and Logistic Zone of Sines, addressed to higher education institutions, in coordination with established companies and with APS - Port Administration of Sines and Algarve, aiming to disseminate knowledge about ZILS and its environment;
  • commercial and marketing collaboration protocol with APSS – Port Administration of Setúbal and Sesimbra
Safety and Protection

aicep Global Parques participates in the EGEO – Managing Organisation of Conveyor Belts of ZILS, which is dedicated to the safety of conveyor belts. It is an active member of PEE – External Emergency Plan of Sines, of the Municipal Committee of Civil Protection and the general safety coordination with local safety and protection organisations (GNR, Civil Protection and Fire Corps).

aicep Global Parques is part of the Municipal Committee of Civil Protection of Sines for the management of the External Emergency Plan of Sines and it actively participates, under the ComSines – Community Panel of Sines, in the Prevention and Safety Work Group.

The daily security vigilance of ZILS contributes to the general safety of the zone and for the detection of abnormal situations. Regular forest cleanup actively helps in a reduction of forest fires in the ZILS.

Regarding the awareness of the importance of Safety and Protection organisations in the daily business life at reception areas, aicep Global Parques supports the Fire Corps of Sines, Santiago do Cacém, Setúbal and Sintra. Every year, it dedicates a share of its budget to assist these organisations, purchasing materials required for the enhancement of their activities.
